Does the Weather Channel know about Maine? (Portland, Mexico: house, live)

Can anyone enlighten me as to why the Weather Channel does not ackowledge Maine? As someone that travels to Maine 2-3 times a month, it is imperative that we watch the weather before we drive North. The Weather Channel will show Boston weather and occasionally will mention Quebec but does not offer any insight for Maine? Why? My other beef is that since they don't mention Maine, it is left up to us to look at the maps they display and the broadcasters always stand in front of the State of Maine. I find myself shouting at the TV asking them to move out of the way. Anyone know someone from TWC that I can talk to about this? Is there another weather channel I can subscribe to on Direct TV to get Maine weather?
Any help will be appreciated.

We've been complaining about the exact same thing for years. There have even been newspaper and magazine articles about it up here. According to the Weather Channel, the northern boundary of New England is Boston, and nothing of interest lives or happens north of there. And their forecasters ALWAYS stand right in front of Maine so we can't even get the benefit of seeing the map. Good luck getting anyone from TWC to comment.

I use Weather Underground, weather.com, and the National Weather Service websites.

Maine is "flyover country," as is most of the Midwest, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, and the upper South.

I use Accuweather.

A mixed blessing though. Maybe if large parts of the population continues to ignore Maine, it will stay unspoiled.

try using the local tv affiliates. WCSH6, WGME13 in the Portland area have weather on their websites

The Weather Channel sells advertising. Advertising is only effective where there are people. There are 1.2 million people in the entire state of Maine, which is larger in area than all the rest of New England combined and then some. Obviously, if you are trying to sell advertising, you are going to point your efforts at the highest number of people, and therefore, the rural states, like Maine, simply don't count.

OK Mark S. I get your point. True, although I'm migrating north, I certainly don't want the rest of my state coming with me.

Thanks for the suggestion but I can't get those channels from my satellite configuration. Currently, my home in Central Maine runs off the same account and configuration as my house in NJ. It saves us major dollars until we make the permanent move. It only costs us $5 a month to operate the satellite in ME. The downside, of course, is that while in ME I have to watch Philly news which is very depressing. Since we don't get any local ME channels, we rely on the radio which only offer NH and southern ME weather.

Well, I emailed Customer Service at TWC. Let's see what happens next. I requested that if they feel it is unnecessary to avoid reporting the weather in the northern New England states, then at least have their reporters step out of the way when showing the weather maps. I'll post their response when I receive it.

you don't have to get the channels, just go to their WEBSITES....wchs6.com, etc
