cell phone service?
I am moving to Old Town. We found a great place and I am really excited about the move. But when we were up there finding a place my cell phone had no service. I use sprint. I guess in the Bangor Orono Old Town area there is no service with sprint. What is the best cell phone provider with the most coverage in that area? Thanks!!!

For us U.S. Cellular works best. I believe there have been other posts about this subject with others having varying opinions. I hope your move goes well. Good luck!

Unicel provides local service to Old Town.
We live a hair North, under a Unicell tower, and have full bars in Old Town and pretty much everywhere in Penobscot county.

I was referring to the signal-strength 'bars' on a cellphone.

I use a T-Mobile To-Go phone (pay as you go) and have had no problems. It uses a T-Mobile tower when I am home in Old Town, and in Bangor it uses a Unicel tower. Most people around here seem to favor U.S. Cellular and Unicel.

When I just visited. I have verizon. I was in basically always somewhat close to rt 95.... up towards Bangor.....then up to Lincoln for a few days... service was GREAT. I never had a problem... had more bars then where I live in New Jersey in fact! Even driving off down towards Lowell, I had service the whole time. Then drove all through Etna, dixmont etc and down a bit west and south of Bangor... service was always fine. A few times the bars dropped down to only 1 but I could still use it.

VFW,
American Legion Post,
Elks,
the bar on water street next to the bridge,
the bar on Gilman Falls road at the intersection "Number 10"
the bar across the road from the riverside park.
I think there are six bars in Old Town.
