Default Visiting "Stephen King's Maine" in October - help needed on filming locations

My son and I are going to vacation in Maine in October and we're both big Stephen King fans. We want to visit the towns from his books and also the filming locations of the movies. We've found a lot of information online, but a few are still mysteries to us.

We read that THINNER was shot in the towns of:

Appleton
Belfast
Camden
Kittery
Portland
Thomaston

Does anyone know which scenes were shot in those towns?

Thanks!

No clue. Sorry.

Very few of the few films based on King stories were actually filmed in Maine. I think parts of Pet Sematary might have been filmed around Bangor, and a few of the outside shots in Storm of the Century were filmed around Southwest Harbor.

Many of the towns in the books are fictional. 'Salem's Lot for instance. But if you follow the directions in the book, it's somewhere around Cumberland or Pownal. Somewhere between them, I'd think, but it's been a while since I last read it.

Did you check out the Stephen King website? He has a map of his "fictional" Maine?

Oh, thanks for the tip!

I actually bought a book on Stephen King and it gives a lot of information on the real town counterparts to his fictional world. I think we have that angle covered pretty well, just trying to find a few more movie spots.

We can't wait to visit Maine. We want to spend about a day just seeing the coastline and trying out some of the famous "Maine Lobster" we've always heard of but never tasted. It should be a wonderful trip!

It's called "Stephen King Country". I think it may be out of print but I bought it from a reseller on Amazon pretty cheap. It was well worth it.

Sharon, just want to say I went to Maine last year for the 1st time in my life and fell in love with it...The first thing I said when I called home was "I want to live here someday". Its too much to take it and you will be thinking of your trip long after you go home. HELLO Maine...love it there!

Hartwell Girl: That wouldn't surprise me at all! I haven't even been to Maine but I've read so much about it and visited so many websites that this morning I found myself browsing Maine real-estate. I don't think we'd be able to move until around 2010, but I love the entire New England region and would just love (LOVE) to live there.

Elcarim: We'll definitely be taking lots of photos. We've been researching the trip since May and are so excited we can barely take it.
