Thanks Molly. I was figuring it was something like that. The point you bring up about "what consitutes a charge" is what I had in mind as well.
Like I said, where I live now looks like a larceny haven, but it's mostly from the huge retail area and the shoplifting charges.
Labamba: Thanks for the info, this I am aware of. I've been to Augusta before and in maine over all more times than I can count. I too hope that "something" is found as an alternative. We had that here in CT a few decades ago when industry such as the Brass Mills (Waterbury was the brass capital of the world) and whatnot shut down.
We had a population of very skilled workers, empty factories and the total infrastructure ready for a GM or Toyota plant or whatever...Nothing happened.
Government leaders let the people down hardcore by sitting on their hands until the locals had little choice but to move on - they were back filled mostly by undesireables from NYC looking for a handout.
Now the cities are a mess. I pray, hope and pray that it does not happen to maine. It doesn't appear to be so far...thank God.

I've done similar comparisons with Ma and have found the same results. A lot of towns in Ma with the same number of people...way less crime..or twice the size but only a nominal differance. Maine is a poor state..........and can reflect that with lots of social issues, petty crimes, and property crimes.
The rape thing I am not sure about. Usually a college can skew that number......or......it just could have been a bad year. I often feel a little abused by Augusta myself

So Mollysmiles if I move to Maine it would be better not to meet anyone, that way I would stand a better chance of not becoming a victim. lol
Labamba, I am a blue collar worker and I know many blue collar and white collar workers. There are just as many white collar criminals and drug addicts (percentage wise) as blue collar workers. Also most white collar workers I've found have very little common sense. A quick true story (told to me by a white collar worker). An engineer in our company was going to fly to chicago. While waiting to take off the pilot announced the time of arrival in New York. the engineer called the stewardess over and told her that the pilot did'nt know where he was going. Never did the engineer think that he was on the wrong plane. LOL

Pmusa, are you talking about white collar and blue collar groups that are both 100% employed? Because I'm not.

if they are not employed that makes them unemployed hence non worker.not blue or white just unemployed.the diffrence between a blue collar crime and a white collar crime is most of the time the white coller perp gets away with it.
