August in Maine
I love August! It's my favorite summer month. There's something about a quiet dry dirt road, the warm sun on your back, the crickets chirping, it's summer maturing... The blueberries are in, the black berries are coming soon, the native corn and new potatoes are in, beans broccoli, peppers, cukes all are in this month! There's even the first agricultural fair in Topsham in August.
The lobster's shells are still hand crackable but the shell is much fuller than in June and July. The sun is still real warm and the days start to take on that golden glow as we begin to tip away from old sol again for yet another season. The humidity seems to dry up as nights start to cool toward the end of the month in preparation for fall.
I normally have my summer painting chores done so I can enjoy the month of August. We've had a lot of rain here this month so I'm a little behind. Oh well.
I'll get it done....sometime. For now I'll just enjoy the next few weeks!

When the squirrel has his nuts all stored up for the winter he can take the time for a little breather before the snow hits.
Last time I bear my soul to you people!

Yeah, Maineah, I loved it! You're a poet! You described August to a "T"! It's just the same down here in the Ocean State. Also tried to rep you, but gotta spread some around first...drat!
