Help with retirement town for old man !
Hi, I'm a 68 yr old widower looking to move back to New England.I'm originally from Vermont but live in Wisconsin which was my late wifes home area.I dont want to move back to VT because I grew up on a farm and
the total "yuppification" of VT is juat a total turnoff for me.On the other
hand I'm a fairly "liberal" person in general but have old timey values-LOL
I need a place where are apartments are available(dont need a house at my age),a hospital not too far. and hopefully some culture. I still love
hunting and fishing but like my Bach too.Thank God for hi-Fi !
Lived in VT 60 yrs but never got farther in ME than L.L. Bean!
Just looking at a a map perhaps Bangor or Lewiston area.Yuppy coast a no-no.I'm in Green Bay and am used to the cold so even The County not
out of the question.
Thanks.

I really liked Bangor when we lived there. The housing is affordable, plenty of apartments, there is the symphony, and the university is close with all the cultural things it brings.

You don't like "yuppification", you are a liberal with old time values.
You need an apartment, near a hospital, in an area with culture, and easy access to hunting and fishing.
I'm comfuzzled!

This is probably an inappropriate place to ask this, but how do you put a signature under your ID name? I saw under the FAQ section where only admins/mods can use siggies, but see others have them, too.

So am I -its a problem being different than the average american.
I had suspected Bangor Area might be the only area in the US that might meet my taste-thanks to the kind people who confirm this !
BTW-a lot of the old time dairymen I grew up with and around in VT 60 years ago-were actually quite liberal in their thinking-as were the the Republican senators they sent to D.C.

They're called "custom user titles" and a few things have to happen before it "kicks in" and you can play with it--you need to be a CD member for at least 30 days, you need *I think* 200 posts, and you have to have accumulated 50 rep points. Believe me, it happens faster than you might expect
