I have never seen such humongous shrooms as this year in the woods.
I've harvested a lot of polypore fungi this year. Found some nice rechi to gather this fall.

You're right, these mushrooms are really big! There were some last week that were as big around as a dinner plate....I still won't eat them!!!

I wouldn't touch 'em with a ten rod pole, either! We have a large smattering of 'em all over our lawn - the white ones. I think all the rain this summer has something to do with it. Got a lot of moss around, too. This stuff all likes moisture, and we've had plenty of it!

Wow - Those are some pictures. I can just see the things booming up over night. Eat them. Nope. My sense of what is good for me sometimes fails. So, I just look and appreciate.

Morels are pretty easy to identify, chantrelles are also popular in New England. Alittle butter and garlic...yum!

Shrooms everywhere!
My husband and I have been successfully picking chanterelle and a few other mushrooms in our Wells area for years now. This year we must have picked more than 25 lbs of chanterelles over the last few weeks! We've actually given thought to selling them to area restaurants. Any suggestions?

The current average price for chanterelles is 24/lb retail. Did you know you've been eating a small fortune? =)
