I watch for the finches changing to their winter color and the snowbirds to arrive.

Well, Janice said the same things the other day....the light, the leaves on our Maples are turning (due to a fungus), but she says she can feel the difference.

While I am here in Florida, and we just broke our all time record, since 1873 of 90+ degree days in a row. No signs of fall here, flowers long ago gave up blooming and are just hanging in there. We have been a bit dry, so brown is in the air, but not fall, from HEAT!

It's tough for a nudest to be in the buff with late autumn temps in the air, but we diehards manage anyway. This sure beats the relentless heat of the southern states by leaps and bounds! It helps that the three pilot lights on my cookstove seem to heat my camp very satisfactorily. If I can find someone to plow my driveway, might just stay for the winter, too.

i'd place a sign at the end of your driveway"house full of female nudists now interviewing for driveway snow plowing this winter"

i bet you might get quite a few calls

You do know somebody with a 4WD Kubota Diesel and a snowblower that can drive snow 50 feet horizontally into the woods.

I just bought a GMC 4WD Diesel with a 9 foot quick switch angle plow too. Ole Man Winter is shivering at the thought.

Sounds like I might have a connection. No offense Mainebrokerman, but your idea would solicit the wrong kind of "help." NMLM, I'll dress for the occasion.

Today I ate a "smore". I have read about these things for years and knew that they are some kind of kid summer camp ritual involving food. I had no idea what a smore was. My daughter-in-law is here at camp with my grandson. She made smores. I have only one question: How do girl scouts make it home from camp after eating smores without having their heads shaved?

A true Girl Scout would never miss her mouth when dealing with chocolate, marshmallow and graham crackers (especially chocolate) - hence there should never be a need to shave her head. Just sayin'

Default Pumpkins in August?

Just saw on the news that many farms in the southern part of the state have already harvested their pumpkins. One farmer in Buxton was saying that they'll actually last longer this year due to the early harvest. Who knew?

Okay..... I know a few of you knew, I didn't!
