Unity, Maine today
Is anyone living in or near Unity, Maine. I'm curious how people feel about the town today. I had family back there twenty years ago, and I'm sure things are different. How is the school system (elementary and high school). Is the commerce part of town different, new businesses? What is life like living there today. What part of Unity would you look for real estate in if you were buying? If not buying in Unity, where would you buy that is real close?

Unity is the town that time forgot. It has not changed much in the last 20 years. I would look for a place on Quaker Hill where you have a good opportunity for wind and solar power. That will be a big plus in the next few decades.

Unity is one of my fav small towns in Maine. The racetrack closed last year. Unity College is a nice fit, brings a back to the 60's/70's element. Very laid back, except during CCF weekend. Easy drive to Waterville.

A fella named 'Joe' cuts wood on my land, he is building a house in Unity. He currently lives in Orono, but he says that Unity is near heaven.
Joe has been cutting logs to build himself a cordwood house. He is building a house that they plan to live in and call Unity their home.
A mighty friendly fella, is Joe too.

I live fairly close. I know that the IGA sold out to become an Edwards Shop N Save, which has some sort of arrangement with Hannafords. The scenic railroad thing filed for bankruptcy and is not operating which is an awful shame.
