Building Codes 2010 ???
has anyone got any information about the legislature passing/adopting a building code for towns of 2000 or more (towns would have to hire a bldg. inspector) and builders would have to begin to get licensed??

You'll undoubtedly still be able to do your own work on your own property. I do a lot of my own electrical, plumbing and building. I get permits and call for inspections but the inspector seldom shows up to look at my work. He approved my wiring of the barn and the 100 amp service I installed in there. He also approved my kitchen rewiring work. I think he feels I know enough about it to not kill myself or burn the place down now so he cuts me some slack here and there.
Any hard jobs I call in an expert.

Wow! that was interesting.....
I do know that passive radon systems will be required. Which will cut down on the cost of having one installed after the fact.....

Passive radon system is a hole in the wall with some screen over the end.

Shhh!
"Passive Radon System" sounds so much better.
With a fancy phrase you can charge more too!

Well this just scares the bed wetters right out of my bed! I have relocated here and I noticed some shabby workmanship in the home we are renting. Now I know why...especially since the guy is a Principal at an elementary school!
