My wife and I fell in love with Eastport on our first trip there -- we were looking for an artsy-fartsy place with a good community feel and we think Eastport is the place for us. Once our house is sold we will be there for good -- hopefully very soon!!

My thoughts business wise was to locate on one of the main routes
such as 1 or 3 etc. (focus on motorbikes, kyakers, climbers) bread and butter type of stuff during the tourist season. also would lease and barter my studio with other local photographers and artists.

Location - I was raised in the NYC area and got the heck out as soon as I could 17 y/o - I'm 40 now. Nothing wrong with urbon life if thats what your into but Im not and dont want to raise my kids in that envirement.

I currently live in the catskills near Woodstock/Phoenicia artsy farsy plus hippy to the extreme- I love it here but it has become to expensive - city folk bought everything up after 9/11 and drove up the real estate. you cant afford to live and work here anymore unless you do what they do- live in the city and visit on weekends-

Affordable to me is finding a house in the 100k area +/- .. fixer upper desired. lowe taxes

politics - I am Voting for Obama. not a total hippy though, proudly wore a uniform for 13 years...

anything else you want to know just ask I look forward to seeing where this leads us !!
Vermont would be a good fit for you!

Not a chance, no challenge as everyone is already voting for Obama in that state.
I can see it now - proudly displayed above my shiny new Maine license plate -
Veterans for Obama =)–

“sorry no more on politics. we’ll need to discuss that in another thread, shame on me” But so you dont totally shun me - I did vote for Reagon and Bush Sr (once).

Quick update->

I have told a few of you guys in DM's but I figured I'd share some pretty good news with everyone. When I started researching locations in Maine, I put my resume back on the Job boards. As of Tuesday I've had two interviews with a company. and I will have a third and hopefully final next week. This is BIG, My wife and I where thinking we may have to postpone a move until the spring. Now it looks like we may have to ramp up our search, FYI - if this works out I may be looking for a rental on a month to month basis until we find a house =)
I'll let everyone now how this works out!

Default You want Brownfield!

Plenty of artsy-fartsy, many young families/artists moving to area due to Stone Mountain Arts Center with wonderful concerts during mostly summer.
Welcome to the official Carol Noonan website! Do check out Brownfield.

I also saw a town not too much further away that looked intriguing: Vienna, ME.

Hey Dramamama!

It's a field service tech position. I would serve several counties Working on network equipment, servers,PC's and stuff like that. To be honest its exactly the type of work I am trying to put behind me. But in this case it would be perfect as I'd see different parts of Maine on a daily basis thus giving me a better idea where I want to settle down and start my studio while still putting some change in my pocket! -- If it works out the plan is to rent something on a month to month basis somewhere on the Washington/Hancock border this would put us in the middle of all the towns we are considering- although Eastport is still way in front of the others! This option would let us settle on a place without having any regrets down the road.

I'll keep ya in the loop!
