Default Maine real estate - Bridgton region?

In my neverending research in possibly moving to Maine, I've become partial to the Bridgton region. I noticed there's a nice drive in area there and it seems far enough South and close enough to the Ocean to suit the Mrs. I also like that it's fairly close to Portland.

I've been searching Main real estate for quite some time and noticed that land in the north is very affordable. We found a nice log cabin with 40+ for acres around $120K. This fits nicely into our budget, but we don't really want to be in the extreme north.

Since I'm not super familiar with the towns/areas in Maine, could anyone recommends some areas with maybe 20 miles of Bridgton where I should start researching? Ideally, we'd like to get something around 1,200-1,500 sq. feet and around 5-10 acres of land for under $150K. Is this feasible in the southern part of the state or should we either a) save more to stay south or b) concentrate more on the positive aspects of the north? We love both parts of Maine, but with my business (I photograph people/events), being closer to the cities and larger populations would be beneficial.

We're visiting Maine again in October and I can't wait to be back!
