There are tons of options available. Do you have any particular area that you are especially fond of?
DH & I eloped to Boothbay Harbor, as did one of my friends. I've seen several couples get married by the lighthouse at Pemaquid. Any of the State Parks would give you a beautiful setting and plenty of space for a casual BBQ style reception afterwards. Those are always fun.

I have seen alot weddings at Capitol Park in Augusta this summer. The park is lovely in the fall as well. There isn't much for seating but one wedding had chairs brought in. My dh and I had our ceremony in the gazebo in the Gardiner Common. It was a nice ceremony with family. And it cost nothing, my husband's favorite part.

DH and I got married at the local Country Club, overlooking the river. I can't remember it costing anything for the CC... but it may have been a small amount. The wedding was outside, with tables set up inside for the meal and then the dance floor was inside as well. It was a perfect fall day, October 1, and we had a great time. I think the most expensive part was the catering.... and still that wasn't bad because we did New England traditional fall foods-- including pumpkin and apple pies, and warm mulled cider. I think it was around 1K. We decorated with the traditional fall things, cat tails, corn stalks, pumpkins, mums, maple leaves, apples, even hay bales--that all cost next to nothing, we bought the mums. I bought hurricane lamps at Wal-Mart, placed fall colored candles in them and wrapped them with leaves and vines with berries for the centerpieces. We did splurge and ordered personalized M&Ms I think when all was said and done, the wedding and the honeymoon (a week on the beach on Oak Island in North Carolina) cost a little over 5K.
Good luck and have fun! Try not to get stressed out and use what is out there naturally.

Hehe
... I love it!
Love those RMoore pic's...
Your wedding day molly~sounds wonderful and the honeymoon sounds dreamy. Steve and I haven't had one yet... we take little B&B trips and they are also nice.
Anything on a beauiful day, being outdoors is a perfect day.

Without a doubt there are many options for doing a wedding.
Your best bet though is still to remain single.

Dittos to what moughie said Peachie! You were a gorgeous bride!
DW and I were married on my brother's lawn in Yarmouth. It was a beautiful August day. We did a clambake afterwards right there in the yard. We had a ball. I think we spent a grand total of $300.00.

There is a river cruise boat out of Bangor. It departs from the Sea Dog. The Penobscot River is beautiful the first week of October with foliage at its peak.
Good idea Forest.
