Default Interesting way to see BNAS airshow

I remembered walking the Brunswick bike path years ago and seeing P-3 Orions fly low overhead on takeoff right about where the path meets the river. I reasoned that the airfield points in that direction. I further reasoned that it might be a good place to see the aircraft fly by during the airshow.

The wife and I reached the spot I remembered, and the conversation went like this:

"I think this is the spot."

"Well, if it isn't, I'm sure we'll see a plane or two fly around and we could always move to wh---"

[PHWAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!]

[F-15 with afterburners on roars directly overhead at about 100 feet, like a thousand heavy-metal guitarists hitting a thousand power chords]

We looked at each with our jaws on the ground, got huge smiles and said "Holy sh**, that was awesome!"

We parked our butts, saw three hours of boring stuff, then about 2:30 noticed a bunch more people gathering around. That's because at 3:00, the Blue Angels showed up, and now we had one, two, three, four, five, and six F/A-18s roaring right over our heads. It was amazing, with everybody's kids yelling "Here they come, here they come!"

Most awesomest day ever.

we were at the other end of the runway when the f15 was doing its show. We too got buzzed by afterburners. The kids - 5 and 7 - didn't appreciate it and panicked. We were on bikes riding into the show - went as quickly as we could, but it ruined the day for the little one. oh well. SHow was good. crowd not bad.

I was in the woods on a deer stand and had my crosshairs on a good buck. Just as I touched off my 30-06 my scope went grey. What the heck? The deer flopped where he stood. I stood up and as I did I noticed a chickadee on the ground at my feet, motionless. Then the chickadee moved a little, stood up and staggered around as if to say, "What the heck was THAT?" The chickadee flew up onto a branch. I figure he was either right above my muzzle and caught the blast or he just landed on my barrel. I have had them land on a gun barrel before.

That chickadee probably felt like your 5 year old.
