Often when I've gone to Augusta, I've thought a few people ought to be made to revisit basic drivers' ed so they can be reminded on how to drive in a rotary. Seems like a lot of people forget!
They work great, when everyone follows the rules, but it only takes one bonehead to foul everything up.
Yea, I like rotaries as well. My gripe is the same as the guy in the video, too many people seem to forget the basic rules of drivers' ed. If only they were more common throughout the state. You know, common enough that the average driver couldn't get a drivers' license without going through a rotary on his or her test.
I've been through the new one by the airport. I'm curious though, what's the deal with the sidewalk going around the inside of the circle? Just in case pedestrians choose to get their exercise by running around in circles?

LOL! That was great. I am in New Jersey and we have roteries. A LOT of them have been slowly turning into intersections over the past couple years, and like the guy, so often, you have people totally confused not knowing how to get around it, and very often if you look at the licesnse plate... they are indeed from out of state! Infact, because they have been doing road construction fixing so many taking out the circles lately, when I use my GPS, it still instructs me as if its a circle. (we call them "circles" here most often. "Go through the circle up ahead")
It appears my speakers are broken so I couldn't hear what the guy was saying....I have more patience for those who don't know how to drive in a rotary than people who keep taking their hands off the steering wheel
I like rotaries. But then we lived 6 years in Europe and drove through them a lot.
Bangor also has a rotary, near the airport. My Dw drives through it everyday on her way to and from work.
yes, and that's relatively new!! holy cow, spotted it for the first time last Saturday night in the dark and the pouring rain-- needless to say it took a minute to figure out what was going on! It's not well lit, and for someone like me who was through there a year or two ago and doesn't drive on Maine Ave often, it was quite a shock Do you know how long it's been there Forest?
I can't tell for sure what they're doing out by the new bridge here in Calais, but it looks as if we'll have a rotary here too. I'm trying to figure out how that will improve traffic flow

I guess not too long. Google earth doesn't show it yet, however it draws the route as if it were there, so they just haven't updated the photo yet.
