I have an oval ME state sticker on my car, and I've had several people ask me what "ME " means....

I saw this plate the other day...QTPAW2T...which got my attention until I finally got to pass the car and it was not what was advertised. Just some guy with a beard.

Then I thought maybe it had something to do with a business where they groom dogs.

Default Nicknamers

Mainers are nicknamers. If we like you, eventually we nickname you. And, we nickname ourselves, our pets, our homes. Perhaps that's why we're so into vanity plates? Some examples. Here at work Faye is "Fayzie" Fred is "Fredeye", Cindy is "cindyloowho" when someone is using our Vision Data accounting software we say he or she has VD. I often call my doodle Tuckley when his name is Tucker and Archie the puppy is just as often called Archway but sometime I call him Minch....who knows why. I refer to my home as "the Lake" as in I'm staying at the Lake this weekend instead of staying home.

The leap to vanity plates is just a short one from all of this nicknaming

When I got my car, my husband went to the motor vehicle dept and went in to pick up my plates for the car since my 10 plates we're about to expire. I stayed in the car while he ran in.

To much time past and as I was about to go in, I even opened the door on my car and as I put my foot out he was coming out the door smiling. I said,
" why did it take so long," he didn't say anything, just smiled. I got out to talk to him while he put plates on my car, which ended up being paper and as I read it I got alittle teary.

I didn't need the plate, but I was shocked and even alittle happy over what my new paper plate was going to read. "Peachie".

Peachie stands for so many things.... which mean so many good things for me.
My father who past away, my husbands love for me, and how I wish to be... happy.. just peachie.

Plates are an extra cost, and not one I would pay for. But everyone does this for so many little reasons. I guess mine was a "present" and one I'm okay with.

The best one that I have seen was '16KDEBT' on a Honda Civic.
