Tomorrow my DP and I are taking a drive up to Cornish, to see the fall leaves, for lunch and to relish autumn in Maine.......then in the evening we are going to USM to a theatrical production.....the billing specifies...."for mature audiances"....we will see what we see. Later in the month we have a folk singer at the coffee house sponsored by our church, a concert of the Portland Symphony Orchstra and a fiddle concert of French Canadian, Acadian, Scottish and Irish tunes at the high school and we just joined the Art Museum and took in a wonderful touring show of french and American impressionist paintings.....If anyone is in Portland....it is a very special show!

I can't tell you how much I love my life in Maine....it is full and rich and wonderful day after day.

[quote=starwalker;5538768]I am thinking much about harvest these days. Just got back from my garden where I picked the last of the tomatoes (to ripen on the window sill or in the craft room under newspaper) and dug tomatoes.

Tomorrow I go to put up chickens with MaineWiriter.

I was out and about, today and now I am HOME, supper is in the oven and I am preparing for my Friday spiritual observance. Tears were coming to my eyes as I was taking cabbage from my garden and making a casserole, thinking about tomorrow...never have I had/known such a community of folks. The very idea of working together with a friend to put up meat for the winter.. coordinating with someone an hour away from her -- who knows her -- to pick up a custom built tool that I will use on MY land... just blows my mind.

I have lived may places but never have felt HOME as much as here.

In the grand scheme of life outside of one's vocation is to realize that our "purpose" is to love(help) one another, help carry one another's burdens and share in each others joys and sorrows. I found this to be a way of life, talking to people this summer in Maine, when I was out driving around, traveling to and from Calais, Machias or just taking a walk around Eastport.

It's amazing somedays with how my heart aches to be home that I just don't sit around crying. The one thing that keeps me going(well maybe 2), is that I know we are tight wads and have figured out how much $$ is set aside for the move to Maine each day we work, and that my friends will be waiting for me when I get there.
