Have we mentioned head bands? When you're active outside you can get over heated (no really, El, you can! ). You can get dangerously cold if you get sweaty. I wear a head band to keep my ears warm without over heating when I'm shoveling or snowshoeing.

That's wonderful news. My puffy or poofy, if you prefer, hair reacts really lovely to headbands. Though I do have a few my hair usually pushes them off and then I just end of with a puffy lil' ol' animal atop my head!

Vests are good in late Fall when you may want a little warmth without a full coat, but once Winter hits, give me my sleeves!!!

 I like vest in Fall.
I can move about and keep the chill off.
I know that I must get that from my mom.
She use to say,
"I can't wear a coat when I'm running around - driving and doing errands. I feel all bulked up. "
Then she would say, "When I'm outdoors for more then 15 monutes then a big snuggly coat is the "ticket".
I think I'm the same way.
Runing around doing errands and not spending to much time outdoors I can enjoy the warmth and movement of the vests. Other wise, "pass the wool peacoat."

I've seen women here wear those headbands that cover your ears. I can't figure out how to get it to stay on my head! I actually have one I bought to try, because I thought it wouldn't be TOO warm in our climate, but would still protect my ears on chilly mornings. Maybe someone can teach me how to wear it.

I pull my hair out of the back of the head band so that it falls over the back. That does a lot to keep it in place.

I have very thick, curly hair and hats are not an option.
I love my Thinsulate 180's earmuffs. The band goes around the back of the head, under my hair and then I have the nice warm (and very FLAT) earmuffs to keep my ears warm. They work great! I highly recommend them.
I found mine at QVC but they don't carry them anymore. I did find this site though:
180s Ear Warmers from the Ear Muff Shop

Jeepers, I have been gone too long. I didn't think to check LLBean first
Anyway, they work great and I highly recommend them for the whole family.

Ok, fleece lined jeans for the kids - yes or waste of money? I'm talking Ebay here, so no big expense. I can get the jeans they need with or without the lining, but I'm trying to think ahead to spring in Maine.
