I'm leaving for Maine from CA tomorrow morning at 10 after a dentist cleaning appointment. Great timing.

I found this site about a year ago and have enjoyed many virtual friendships in that time. Hopefully, my move to Maine during the winter will enable me to meet some of you. At least, if I don't get to Maine in the winter, I'll be making motions in that direction anyways.

My business here will be run by my 20 year old college student son , my replacement and and my office manager for 13 years. I've stored all my stuff at my business space for the time being. I'm taking a month to a year off to find myself. Find myself a new direction that is. I'll be driving to MO near Springfield to stay with an ex bil on his 300 acres for a while then to NC on Lake Norman, near Charlotte to visit my nephew before taking a big left turn and heading north to Dover-Foxcroft. I may put off that big left turn until the spring though. Wouldn't want to miss m and b season.

I will be leaving the "easy living" world of CA for the more adventurous type climates. I haven't seen rain now for over six months. I haven't seen snow since last Feb. in Tahoe while visiting a friend. Am I in for it?

I have a front wheel drive car with heated seats and new tires. A foreign car no less with CA plates. I probably won't be noticed. Good thing I have a radar detector. Gas is cheap right now compared to CA prices. Good timing there. Motels are cheap right now too. Or maybe that's just me staying in cheap motels.

Anyways, I am on the road and will be an ambivalent or willy-nilly poster in the next few weeks to months. Just a rider in the storm, so to speak. Homeless, jobless, rootless, Dishless, High Speed Internetless and routineless in my future.

Thanks for listening. Talk to you all later. I'll check back when I can.

R- that sounds like a pretty exciting adventure to me. I think it'll be wonderful for you to leave Cali and head home to Maine, your heart has been there for a long time.

It sounds like you have things all wrapped up and are ready for a nice long road trip. How nice that your son can take things over for you while you're away and you have the freedom to just hit the road. Something about that feeling is very freeing to the soul.

Good for you- Safe travels on your journey home. Try to keep us posted as to your arrival. I'd be willing to bet there are many CD'ers here that would love to meet you.

Oh, how I envy you! I'd love to be headed up "willy-nilly" right now! I'd leave tomorrow if all these damned ducks were in a row! But we'll be there with you soon!

Have a safe and enjoyable trip. You may DM elston and get their route for coming from CA. They had a nice trip across.

See ya on the flip side!

Couldn't resist this purchase! Caught it on clearance - it's a Northwoods Moose sweatshirt. I think it will look great with jeans.

7, your boys play out in the snow a lot. What brand coats do you buy them? I'm seeing these 3 and 4 in 1 systems that have layers. That looks like a great concept for kids. Any opinions? They're starting to go on clearance already!

Do you guys have any trouble with dry air during the winter? DH and I were talking yesterday about how to bundle so we can breathe the cold air when we're outdoors, but then I wondered about the dry air in the house. Do you use humidifiers? I boil water with spices on the stove routinely, so that may help naturally, but I'm curious if it's much of a real issue.

El, the first thing I reach for when I get off the plane in Maine is my Chapstick! It's always in the left pocket of my jeans and I never go anywhere without it. Most everyone I know carries Chapstick, it's a must have.

Ask how many people have washed and dried their Chapstick as they've forgotten to remove it from their pockets before washing. The thing is, it washes fine. It's the dryer that becomes the problem!
