Default Advice for Bath and Brunswick Real Estate

My parents are looking for a retirement home in the towns in and around Bath and Brunswick. I am a real estate agent myself, but not in Maine, so I've been involved in the process a bit. I would like to ask a couple of questions to people who live in the area. First, for all you locals out there, which town in the area do you personally think is more desirable as a place to retire, and why? We're trying to be practical about the potential need for healthcare, and the potential for decreased mobility down the road.

I also was wondering how people are feeling about the market there...I do not know the area so I need some feedback about the typical difference between asking price and the actual sale price. I also would like to hear from people whether the current market crisis means that they should offer a lot lower, in order to protect themselves should the market really crash....We are fortunate to have found a good buying agent, and of course will take her advice into account, but I want to have other opinions.

Thanks so much for any info you might have for us.

May I suggest you dm WhoFanMe, our local Southern Maine realtor forum member. HE will be sure to answer any of your questions with professionalism and honesty.
The Maine forum is lucky to have other realtors who are members but I believe they cover more Northern areas.
Good luck!
