What about beauty and nail salons? I'm almost hesitant to ask! Yes, I get my fake nails done every 2 weeks along with the rest of the masses in Houston. Remember this is the land of "hair-dos and high heels at the grocery store". DH has suggested to me that maybe I won't need to be quite so well groomed when we're hiking and kayaking and snow shoeing and gardening.......doth he gest ?????
So, maybe my de-programming will take a little time, but I promise to convert!!

There's two hair/nail salons in Eastport - not to worry about your nails.

yes, we'll be sending you to Ann's for that, if you insist!
BUT, I've never had my nails done, and have never felt like I missed out on anything... the tips seem to be naturally white, and the beds pink and they grow all on their own... I can't imagine what anyone could do to them to make them look better than that! Maybe I'm just far too busy and practical--lol!! Don't worry though, there are people here who pay to have theirs done, you won't be the only one!
And I'm not making fun of you--- much..... Does remind me though of the time this summer when I told you about mowing the lawn and you said "YOU mowed the lawn?? You're more of a woman than I'll ever be!" lol.... I thought then, "oh boy....", and I'm thinking that again!!
I just want to be the first one to put a snow shovel in your hand..... lol

I find it hard to believe that in this day and age; with everywhere being so accessible, that someone would move their family to a strange land without at least one visit; to each their own. All the best to you!

You obviously don't know our story, so I'll forgive you. Yes, we've been to Maine. And no, I wouldn't move without first visiting, either. I wasn't looking for hair/nail salons during our visit.

They did visit (and it was in the winter, if I remember correctly). They have put a lot of thought and planning onto their relocation, and I admire them greatly for that.

From viewing your past posts I didn't realize that you had been to Eastport.
With all due respect, Eastport is a far cry from Belfast.

We were as far as Acadia - did not make it all the way to Eastport. Employment and housing are available for us in that area, so that's where we're going. Yes, we've done TONS of research on the entire state, and more specifically, the Downeast area. Belfast, though beautiful and quaint, is much larger than we'd like. Once we're there and living daily life in Maine, I'm quite sure that our perfect place will draw us, and we'll know soon enough exactly where we'll settle permanently. But for now, Eastport it is! We just can't wait to be there. I'm very anxious to join you ladies for lunch at Peachie's place!! I hope you're still saving my seat.
Molly, please don't tell me I also have to learn to mow! I may have to dig my high heels in on that one!!

Well, you *could* get some goats or sheep to keep the grass short, and when they get fat enough...
