I hope they have. My husband was laughing so hard last night when I read him your post about them. I remember when I was a kid, a guy in town had a cow that got drunk on fermented apples.
Btw, AOL had a news article last night about a pony in England that escaped from his stable, got into someone's backyard, ate fermented apples and then fell into a swimming pool. They got him safely out, while his buddy kept on eating apples. LOL

Again, I never said they are forced out. When subdivision, road, houses etc are constructed, they encroach on wildlife habitat. The wildlife begin to live in the subdivision, cross the road, eat out the house's vegtable garden. If anything, wildlife benefit from subdivisions because of all of the garden, fruit trees, and nice grass that is grown.

What increases is the interaction of animal with people. Hence more animal collisions.

You jump too. As you said to Molly, you can't teach an old dog new tricks. You can't expect people to not jump when you yourself do it without reading everything someone has said.

I also know alot of people drive too fast, they think they are better drivers than they really are, and maybe aren't as careful as they should be. Then they hit a deer/moose and blame the deer/moose instead of admitting they were going just a bit to fast in an area they KNOW there are deer/moose.
True. And, you can be intimately familiar with an area, drive through it for decades and still hit a deer when you least expect it and are driving defensively. As you said, accidents happen.

So I'm assuming you have the animals processed and eat them. Don't laugh! Some people just hunt for sport and for racks to hang on the wall so they can brag about them. My brother-in-law does. He sells the bodies to other people who go to the expense of having them processed to put in the freezer.

Dh has only been hunting once in his life, though all the men in his family are avid hunters. He didn't enjoy it at the time and never went back. He may feel differently in Maine where it's more enjoyable to be outdoors. He may also feel differently if we go into recession and need to be even more frugal and self-sufficient.

I can't imagine what moose would taste like - and don't say chicken!

No, it isn't. That's a myth. I have a 13 year old dog... but, unfortunately, people can be unteachable.
