need local advice
Im looking to buy a farm or farming land in northern Maine but Im not sure where. I know Id like to be close to the coast or river for my boat, however still in a REMOTE/undeveloped area where I could hunt without running into other people. If anyone knows the kind of area I'm looking for PLEASE let me know!
thanks!
Eric

Money, jobs, trust funds all factor into your ideal. You need to be more specific. Then you will get some decent feedback.

Just looking for a remote chunk of land that i could farm and hunt. mainly a vacation home I could live on 6 months or more at a time, and close enough to the coast that i could easily go sailing. Eventually I'll head up that way and check out the area for myself, looking to spend anywhere from 40-200k

Oh, so you don't want northern Maine, you are looking more Downeast, or mid-coast it sounds like. It's too far of a drive from way up to the coast for a day of sailing. If it were me, I would check into Washington County myself. Nice people, closer to the coast, but not jam packed with high population. Not the area I am most familiar with, so I have no real recommendations other than the general area itself.

Maine has a lot of rivers and waterways that reach far inland.
My land is on the Penobscot river, though we do not have access to the ocean [old mills have dams which block navigation].
We are not so much remote, a few minutes from the freeway and just a bit out of a city.
$40k to $200k can get you 50 to 200 acres of nice forest in this area.
