It is part of the Fish River Chain consisting of Eagle, Cross, Long, and Square Lakes, not necessarily in that order. That's just the way they came to mind. All have outstanding salmon and trout fishing. Watch the wind. These are big lakes and they can get very rough. There are many other excellent trout ponds in the area.

eagle lake is a beautiful small town in maine, ive stayed many times at the overlook motel, at the edge of eagle lake, the people there are very nice, seem to be very open and welcoming to "outsiders"
there's a great little grocery store in town, called eagle lake grocery, if you cant find something you want, ask russ, the owner.

We live in Fort Kent, but we have a camp right on the lake (Route 1 side, close to town) If you want peace and quiet, you can't beat eagle lake! There are also three stores right next to each other on the main drag; Eagle Lake Grocery and Four Corners Grocery are right across the street from each other, and Bald Eagle is a bit further down if you're coming from Winterville.

There is a GREAT restaurant down Old Main Street called Fiddleheads as well. Not sure when it is, but every summer they have a big rock and roll party on the public beach close to Fiddleheads.

You even have things to do in the winter! You like ice fishing? You can do that...and there is a dogsled race starting from the beach too!
