Thank you for the welcome. The website does say it's closed after Sept 30. Sad!

We tried to take the kids to the CSB, but it was closed on the days we were there. They opened back up for the weekend on the day we left to come back to Texas. That was disappointing. We can't wait to see the toboggan runs, snowmobile races, dog sled races, etc. Never seen ANY of that! It's going to be so cool!
On the website, you can watch that 2007 video clip. It's great! That looks like SOOO much fun. We have to do that!!! (not necessarily for competition)

Tobogganing sounds like a blast!!! The video of the competition was fun to watch, thanks for the link.
Last winter went to Big Rock in Mars Hill, & they have a section just for sliding down in tubes, with a rope tow for getting to the top. I was busy refreshing my ski memory, but the tubing looked like so much fun... the line for that rope tow was longer than the chairlift line for skiiers! May have to take the godchildren tubing this year.

snowtubing and ice skating!
Sunday River | White Cap Fun Center
There are lots of places to go tubing in the state. This was our favorite when the kids were younger. I spoke w/ my niece that goes to Gould Academy in Bethel yesterday, she said they're making snow on the mountain every night. So while the link says they're closed now, check weekly. It won't be long!
Tons of stuff to do here, kids and adults. Check it out!

Rollies is popular, a little raucous at night. They have good burgers. Darby's is good as a bar and restaurant, with a large varied menu. The 3 Tides has great beer they brew themselves. I tried a coffee stout tonight, wow, was that tasty. If you go down Main St towards the water, take a left after the Chamber of Commerce, the 3 Tides is behind the Lookout Pub. They have a deck overlooking the water. Weaver's, Dudley's and Chase's are good for lunch, though very different food. Chase's is vegetarian. Also the Co-op is one of the great eat-and-meet places ever, good soups, sandwiches, salads and burgers, good organic food, lots of locally raised things. The Weathervane is fine, and right on the water.
Belfast is a year-round town. There are few snowbirds. There are plenty of social events all winter. The stores are open all winter, and we have some good ones-the Good Table, Shamrock Thistle and Rose, the Green Store, and especially Coyote Moon. Guys like the Army/Navy store. Colburns is a good shoe store. Sometime in early December participating stores will have an earlybird sale where the stores open at 6 with big discounts.
We lost our best coffee shop, the Gothic. A new one is Beyond the Sea, on Main St, a nice place. For espresso and specialty coffees, Bell the Cat at Reny's plaza is great, good sandwiches too. The Co-op has good coffee and treats and a cafe to sit in.
If you xc ski, you will enjoy Moose Point State Park, the Northport Golfcourse, Tanglewood 4H Camp(Lincolnville), Camden Hills State Park and Sears Island.
My advice is to explore every place you see and you will be pleasantly surprised!

I'm so bad at remembering names, but there's a good Thai restaurant down the hill and to the left of Rollies. Very pleasant inside and the staff are very friendly. I love poking around in Belfast. Enjoy!!

The US national toboggan races are this Feb 6-8. I'm not going to miss that!
Here's a link about it.
Camden Snow Bowl
