I think they are on the chamber's website if you want to look for them. Enjoy Belfast

My dad "hangs out for coffee" at dunkins. I know many folks that "hang out there" and can only imagine what goes on. I am not a coffee drinker and can't help anyone find a great local coffee shop. Have you tried Weaver's Bakery on Main Street? They are good friends and make excellent pastries. Best chocolate glazed donuts anywhere! Coffee???

Glad to hear that! We thought something was wrong with us that we didn't like the Dunkins coffee. We had a cup in Belfast. Maybe they're the problem!

Default dining

Has anyone tried the Whale Tooth Pub in Lincolnville?
or Papa J's in Belfast? Both are located on Route 1.

Our 20th wedding anniversary is coming up soon
and we are looking for a great place to dine.
A place that is open in January.

CoastalMaine has been to both of those, talk to her. She said they're both real good. She'll be around pretty soon I'm sure.

I haven't been to the Whale Tooth Pub, but I have been to Papa J's. From the outside, Papa's looks like a local guys drinking bar imo, but inside, they have a woodstove and it's cozy and quite comfortable.

The owner is from California, but has assimilated quite nicely into the region. He is a professional chef and a wine aficionado. He has occasional wine tastings and if you enjoy wine, you should sit at the bar and chime in with the others there. He will tip you a new glass of whatever he's sampling that night. He generally has 2-3 going at once for the 'regulars' to try.

I enjoyed a mussel appetizer there one night... certainly enough for two or three people. It was a massive serving. I have also enjoyed lobster penne pasta w/ sundried tomatoes and light herbs. VERY good! I had to go back before I came home because I wanted the lamb chops he was offering on the 'specials' menu.

He isn't open year round, but close to. If I remember right, he closes after the new year... maybe just for February.

I haven't tried the Rhumb Line in Searsport, but I am going to. They have a website and they are open year round. The Rhumb Line is what I term fine dining. Papa J's definitely isn't that. It's somewhere inbetween.

If you want romance and something special for your anniversary, I would tell you to try the Rhumb Line after you look at their site to see if it suits you.

Good luck! Let us know where you go and how you like it.

And... Happy Anniversary!

We've eaten quite often at Whale Tooth Pub, but, the only thing we ever have is their fish and chips. This is something I never order elsewhere, but they do something to it here that is outstanding. Very large menu, tho, and a lot of desserts. Having said that, however, the bathroom is located next to the kitchen, and it is less than clean. It actually makes me a little queasy, and I always vow not to go back. But we usually do so there ya go...
