What is the Volvo line?
I have a general impression of what the phrase means, but I'd enjoy reading the explanations from posters here. What does the 'Volvo line' mean?
We don't have a Volvo...just a trusty Subaru and a reliable old Honda.

Hi Fern,
Try the search function and type in volvo line. We had a thread that ran for over 10 pages on that subject last spring I think it was. I'll bet you can still find it.

Thank you!
Thanks, Maineah! Sometimes I forget about the search function.
15 pages of reading...this is great. I love the Maine forum!

The Volvo line is approximately 45 degrees north latitude which is exactly half way from the equator to the North Pole. It is also exactly half way up Maine. There are no Volvo dealers above the line. In fact, when volvo owners venture above the line they usually do so in packs. It gives them comfort and reassurance.
Back during the COMPACT fight there was a $500 reward offered to anybody who could drive a Volvo with "RESTORE The North Woods", "Save the Whales", "Earth First" and "Mother Earth" bumper stickers from Orono to Madawaska and back.
There were no takers.

It's the us and them. Below the line is the them and above it are the us. I'm part of the us.

And I am approximately 4.75 miles on the WRONG SIDE of the darn thing!
(oh, well, I guess I can tell K to get that old Volvo we keep seeing for sale alongside the road...)

I've heard of dogs getting credit cards, but I never knew anyone had registered their car to vote!

Don't feel bad, I would love to have a volvo and outside the volvo line. Ya think anyone would mind if I drove a volvo anyway?

Starwalker muses:
"but I never knew anyone had registered their car to vote!"
