We finished up the hunting season with a game supper. Partridge nuggets with creamy garlic dip, venison steak with sauteed onions and green peppers, fresh rolls, wine and beer! DW and the kids joined in for dinner. We fed a pretty good crowd! We had a good season although I was the only one to get a deer out of the group of us who hunt together.

Cat's mom -
I am so glad to here that you have a nice rack.
I am happy to hear that you got some venison too.
Too bad about the vehicle though.

It just took me forever to get through this thread to figure out who ended up with what! MW had me confused for quite a while! I've had bear before too, not a fan but if you live here you should at least try it in a stew.
Maybe you should throw a hat on Star's head. Just thinking for frostbite purposes. I still can't figure out what Star is going to do with the head? Are you going to have it mounted? Anything other than that, pls feel free to skip the details!
Great stories, glad Cat's mom wasn't hurt! Nice job with the pics!
T- better luck next year or muzzel up!

I wish I could "muzzle-up" , but I can't afford the time or the investment in new stuff. Now we play catch up on all our winter prep chores.

I don't know whether to say I'm the owner of a new muzzle loader (I don't know its details) with excitement or dread. Steve bought it for me yesterday. I don't think I can go this week but next week looks ok.

Muzzle loading can be a lot of fun! I have never owned one but I have shot one many times. The amount of smoke they put out when fired takes some getting used to. That and the only way to unload it is to shoot it. We hear more shots around here during muzzle loading season than during the regular rifle season! I want to get one someday though I prefer the traditional Springfield type of rifle from the 1860's than the newer bolt breach types that have become popular in the last 15 years or so. Keep your powder dry!

Oooh!
Oooh!
Oooh!
Is it a modern 'inline'?
Or the old style?
I have a few of the old style [flintlock and percussion cap] but have been drooling over the new inlines.
Oooh and what calibre is it?

We have two now. Steve said his kicks too much for me to use. He's never shot my rifle, which kicks like a mule. I think I know how to use this but I'm not hunting with it until I've been to the pit to try it out and get used to the scope.

I...uh....huh...I dunno. Maybe this will make sense to you. It doesn't to me yet.
Drop breech design, 209 ignition system, 150 grain magnum load capable, scope mounted and bore sighted. My only request was "cheap, I don't know if I'm going to like this."
