Baby Girl,

I am not familar with MaineCare, but I am (unfortunately) too familar with root canals, crowns, etc. If your dentist has referred you to an oral surgeon for a root canal, then chances are fairly good that you do need one. Don't fool around with a tooth ache! Believe me, it will NOT get better on it's own. Now, if the tooth is in the back or on the side - and out of sight - have that sucker pulled!

Good luck

KAF's Dh just had oral surgery this past week, I think that he said he found a dental school in Bangor. The state is covering 60% of the cost, and they are taking payments.

I would recommend that you check them out.

the state runs a dental clinic in bangor. Thats where most of the people on maine care go to get root canals. They are expensive and I dont think maine care will cover them unless they are done at one of the state funded clinics. You should call DHS and ask them if there is a clinic in your area, they should know.

Penobscot Community Health Center

They have a dental office on Union St. in Bangor, they take Mainecare and if you don't have insurance they can go by your income and do a payment plan. Best of luck to you and hope you feel better.
