Which of these foods are bizarre, aside from the fish sperm?

The beaver have to go. I didn't think anyone ate them, but if you'd like to, come on down and get yourself a feast.

And beaver has insanely soft fur, too!

Appreciate the heads up Sportfury59. Especially enjoyed the segment with Linda Greenlaw. When I was longline fishing in the eighties, she was down here in the Gulf. I never heard her on the vhf, but a guy I met here in Niceville was unloading his swordfish catch while I was off loading grouper at the same fish house. He found out I was from Maine and started to tell me how he had fished with Linda and how great she was.
About a year later National Fisherman had a feature article about her. Several years later after retiring from fishing I read the book Perfect Storm and got "reacquainted" with her. (The movie was not half as good). She later came out with her own book, in reality an autobiography which is one of the most fascinating I've ever read. "The Hungry Ocean".

Incidentally, what's up with these TV shows? Every time I see anything about Maine they seem to interview people that have little or no accents. The thing that I miss most is the real strong dialects. When I fished the coast way back when, I got so I could pinpoint another fisherman's location within 30 miles just from small differences in their speaking on the radio. Have all the old timers died off? My guess is that they really don't want to be interviewed on TV. The show was fun, but they spent too much time in Portland, and with the "wine tasting crowd".

I still know many old timers out there, my dad being just one of them. Deerislesmiles dad has a very distinct accent. Yes, they do vary from bay to bay. A Casco Bay fisherman's accent does vary from a Penobscot Bay fisherman.
As well though, an accent from the county is far different all together. I'm not referring to the French Canadian accent, more so what I refer to as a farmers accent.

I thought the segment with the guy from Buxton was really cool!! I have stinging nettles in my dang vegetable garden, but I don't know which thing they are out there. I just know when I come in from picking stuff, I've got nettle burns on my hands, wrists, and often times my ankles. I can't imagine eating it!!!
I thought all the things he showed that were edible from the forests were just amazing. I would try all of them.
I thought the beaver segment was way cool. I have this cookbook with recipes for beaver, opossum, raccoon etc.... I don't think I'd make much of a hunter, and I sure wouldn't want to clean them, but I would cook the meat and organs up. That would be cool. THis cookbook also explains how to clean all these animals for eating and storage.
The sushi stuff... I'd eat all of it too. The Cod sperm was a little weird... haha, but I'd eat that raw lobster with the orange glaze on a stick, the one they stick in a smoke pot... I'm a foodie. There's not much I wouldn't eat... BUT, I do draw the line in the granite ledge on the BUG stuff!!! WTH?!!??? lol Maybe if I was in solitary confinement and they were torturing me by feeding me rat slop bugs would seem tasty in comparison... but as a general rule? I think NOT!!!! lol
Mermie, your sister was very, very charming. The segment had him out lobstering with her on her boat first, before the lobster bake on the rocks. He got his finger stuck in a claw while showing the camera his first caught lobster. She was snickering pretty good at him then. hahaha
I thought the show was great all the way around. I've only seen him on Jay Leno in the past. I don't watch the travel channel. It never even crosses my mind to check it out. lol I don't generally have a care to watch some blowhard eat zebra balls, etc. lmao All set with that, thanks! hahahaha

The fish and lobster looked fine. Different.
