Default Maine's Flag

Did you know that the first state flag for Maine looked like this? And that Maine has it's own ensign?

Personally I think the old flag was more distinctive than the current one. I don't understand why so many states go with the state seal on a field of blue . . . Which flag do you guys prefer?

Very minimalist... which is closer to my own personal style aesthetic. Interesting!

I like the one we got now. It has a farmer on it, as well as a fisherman and that is just who we are, as a family that settled here long before this state was even a state, or even a country for that matter (1757), and as a collection of people in one state of these 50.

I will never forget the explanation given by the Wicked Good Band for the Latin term on the Maine State flag " dirigo"

They said it was Latin for " skidder"!

I like the current one. It's a beautiful picture of life in Maine - where the land meets the sea. We have this sticker on our van.

I think the Maine flag should have a large image of a tax bill and an empty bottle of Allen's Coffee Brandy on it!
