How do you like the new school so far?

Wow, that's an old post. My 7 year old is almost finished with first grade there. She likes everything about the school except for the homework, particularly math. I guess that's first graders for you. I have been very impressed with everything I've seen so far in my almost two years in being a parent at the school.

Question: have property taxes escalated greatly because of new schools?

Depends what your definition of "greatly" is. Great Falls School, where my daughter attends first grade, was built largely with state funds. Gorham is in the midst of their first revaluation in about 10 years. I spoke to the assessor last month and because they are using town employees, it's a 3 year project.

The Mill Rate has increased from 15.90 in 2011/2012 to 16.30 in 2012/2013 and 17.30 in the current 2013/2014 fiscal year.
