Default The Simple Pleasures

Today, with Thanksgiving cooking under my belt, family happy and settled in, and a house that had too many dirty pots, pans, baking dishes, measuring spoons, ect in the sink-- I decided to spend the day in my kitchen (a room I love that is still a complete time capsule from the 1940's) I organized, cleaned, and found myself so calm. I then ironed all of my vintage linens(a job I have been putting off since last Christmas) while looking out at my land. It was such a humble-yet serene day. I now am sitting down for the first time in many hours- I have not been on my laptop, cell, or out shopping. I listened to oldies on the radio and just *was*--it was a nice vacation from the whole hustle-bustle of everyday life. I have not worked so had, yet felt so calm in many moons.

Candles flickering around me, their light scent wafting through the air....... standing in the shower with steaming hot water running over my always tense shoulders and neck........just finished that scene! And now that I'm all refreshed and relaxed, I'll go curl up in my bed and read a little bit of the Quoddy Tides by lamplight. Of course, I'll be sipping a glass of merlot!

Simple pleasures- a warm fire, a good book, and a shot of good sippin' whiskey (or/and a bottle of stout homebrew).

I built a big bathroom a few years ago so my wife can sit in her whirlpool tub with a couple of candles going and look up at the stars through the skylight. You can do that in Maine. You can watch the stars rise through the trees and they seem to wink on and off as they go behind the branches.

Getting up early enough to enjoy coffee while watching the sunrise over the bay, then eating a hearty breakfast and taking off for a hike in Acadia with my DH.

Time snuggling with the DH and dachshund, watching a movie with my best buddy, and hikes in the woods.
