Default Thinking about moving to Maine!

Hello all! I'm new to this forum and am thinking about moving to Maine in a few months.
So I'm moving from Nova Scotia to (thinking about it) Banjor.
I'm just wondering what would be involved in moving across the border? I also have a small dog, a shih tzu that I want to bring and was wondering what I would need to do for her?

Thanks!

Your veterinarian could probably tell you what is needed. I am certain you will need a health certificate and up to date shots, esp. rabies.

There is that little thing called an international border in the way, too. Might want to check on the legalities of just popping across to live; I think there are a few formalities to observe.

Fortunately, this is my area of knowledge :-) Just bring your shot records with you for the dog. Also, I assume you have the proper visa, depending on the class of immigrant you are arriving as?

You'll want to research the US immigration laws for Canadian citizens. There are many websites and some dubious immigration services so be careful in your research.

My family is from NS and NB and I have held this romantic notion of moving to NS or Cape Breton, completely unrealistic but nonetheless a nice daydream to muse on now and then.

Let us know how you progress with your plans.

Back before the causeway, when you arrived at the ferry landing on Cape Breton Island there was a big sign that said, "Thank the good Lord for the Canso Straight, for it keeps the Devil from off our blessed Island." Last time I crossed the causeway it was still there, a little cracked and faded.

Ashley MacIssac is a very popular singer in Canada and he's a "Caper". He plays the old classic songs and throws in a touch of bluegrass from time to time. He wears kilts and logging boots on stage. I tried to buy a couple of his tapes for gifts and could not find them on Cape Breton. They sell out fast. One guy at a gas station told me to just go up to his house and buy some. I went to the house and his Mom answered the door. I bought the tapes. Cape Breton is like Maine in many ways.

There is a popular saying on Cape Breton. "Throw a rock over your shoulder and you have a 50/50 chance of hitting a fiddler. Go into a gas station or restaurant and you'll hear fiddling music. Look around you. It's probably a local kid practicing.
