Default Looking for some info

Is there a place in Maine with low crime, beautiful scenery, no bad insects, jobs, colleges, and things to do. I live in Vermont and find it very boring here.

Dear Merrie,

all of Maine is low crime versus the rest of the United States. Almost all of Maine has beautiful scenery, there are jobs (if you want one) and if you are not too picky, we have the University of Maine with 7 campuses, the Community College System, Bates College in Lewiston, Bowdoin College in Brunswick, and many private Colleges. You will have to put up with black flies from May through August and of course the usual mosquitos, but we do not have any bug infested areas here - I have yet to see a cockroach here . There are plenty of things to do in Maine, especially if you like the outdoors. Fishing, Hiking, Boating, Whitewater Rafting, etc....

Of course you can get bored here during the winter (we do get serious cabin fever at times) but if you like to do snowbording/skiing....you'll have paradise again.

Greetings from Maine

Thank you so much for your response, I went to York a couple years ago and loved it. I like to hibernate in the winter LOL

Low crime is important, and I have heard that you have great schools there for when we decide to start a family. My husband has done a year of college and I know he wants to finish.

Orono, in the Bangor area, is home to the largest campus of U. Maine. It is a lovely college town and the University offers some big name entertainment during the year, not to mention the all the sports events you could hope to fit into a busy year.

Bangor has live theater, pretty good too, a symphony and just about everything else you could hope for.

We are 45 minutes or so from Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park.. close to mountains and skiing.. it is wonderful and there is a beautiful vista around most any corner!
