Right on, MBM has a tree! I have a fake one in the attic. We plan on putting it up sometime next week. It is truly pathetic, because the lights are built right into it! My brother thinks I'm crazy. "You mean you live in Maine, and you have a fake tree?"

But it's sooo convenient. The kids still have fun hanging the ornaments on it! The artificial Christmas tree sprays have really come a long way, they smell so real.

I gave a can of the Christmas spray to my mother-in-law last year, and she loves it! I was driving her to one of her many appointments in October (shortly after we moved back to Maine), and I was commenting on how nice the Balsam smelled. She goes "Oh, that's me, I used some of that perfume you gave me last year." She's using it for body spray

When our 2 daughters were still in the nest, we used to spend an entire day getting the tree up with lights and ornaments and decorating simply with fresh pine boughs on mantles, archways, french doors, etc. Then, in the year 2000 we decided to pay homage to the new millinium by starting a new tradition which our daughters (both on their own now) really got a kick out of.
That was the first year we purchased a 4 ft. tabletop fiber optic tree that really makes it's own statement. Since moving back to Maine, we have added to it, a string of red lobster lights that provide just the right amount of "tacky" as we celebrate our "downeast" Christmas. It's simple, it's whimsical and it stores easily in it's own box. Add some greenery around the place, force some garden bulbs, light a few candles. Easy peasy!

Her DH? hmmm.... I think there's a little note that comes with each and every whoopie pie that says "please devour and do not feel the least bit obligated to share".... ayuh, I'm pretty sure about that.

oh, and we cut our tree yesterday, put the lights on last night, and hopefully by tonight the rest of the branches will be down enough and we can decorate it!

He'll be here at the end of next week, hopefully I can refrain from eating the other 5 of them! I HID them from myself in the freezer door.

Molly, the only thing DH ever has requested from me upon my return to FL is a whoopie pie. I've never honored that request until last week. Do you know how hard it is to get a whoopie pie 2500 miles in one piece? This time I left so much stuff back in Maine to allow for the safe transport of the 6 cherished whoopie pies! Oatmeal raisin, vanilla chocolate chip and of course the traditional chocolate. He's gonna love me -long time!

Have fun decorating the tree!

nothing like a real christmas tree,,the lights and smells brings back many childhood memories ,,, christmas use to be my fav holiday as a kid, we "couldnt wait" and counted the days down,,,to xmas eve, and were too excited to sleep thru the night...
wish i had a time machine to be a kid again.... not just the thrill,,,but sitting around a table of many family members that have gone to the promse land.

i went to a tree farm this morning to cut our tree down, and in the spirit of xmas,,i cut others down for some older folks(that were having a hard time with the saw) i felt so good doing it, i asked everyone there if they needed a hand.
