We now have 4 dogs.... everyone jokes and says "one for each kid!" Elston she's not the dog that moved over from New Brunswick, but I'm starting to think she may be that big! "Jenny" is our Canadian girl, and is a border collie/australian shephard mix, which we learned is an intentional hybrid. She has been such a wonderful fit for our family--she's 4 years old, and sweet as can be. We're very lucky to have her. Our other two dogs are a corgi mix, and a black lab. So far, the only one who has not warmed up to the puppy is the corgi mix. She can be very protective of her family, and she's also older--maybe around 12, we're not sure--so we think that's why it's taking her some time to adjust. Jenny and the lab love the puppy (Charlotte), and so far there has been very few "back off" growls in her direction. The puppy is definitely a "mutt", but Katy showed me a picture of a husky yesterday that looks similar to Charlotte's dad, so there must be husky in the somewhere. I hope her eyes stay blue! I really didn't think we needed *another* dog, but I was out-voted. Katy wore Dana down by sending him a picture a day on his cell phone.... honestly, it didn't really take a lot of wearing down!

Ah I thought "Charlotte" looked like she was husky. Beautiful girl.
I am so glad that un canadien errant (wandering canadian) has found a home. We have a rescue dog that had been returned twice.... ....and she has turned out to be a wonderful family pet....playful, sweet, gentle and loving! She had to find her place in our family which includes a geriatric and cranky old westie who makes it clear that the probationary period for humane society girls....is very long indeed. They waltz around each other daily....but I am convinced would be devestated should they not have one another. What would we do without our dogs....except when paying boarding fees.

Steve came home from the store yesterday morning with tales of a black lab puppy. There are 17 more (two litters). Half are ready now and half a month from now. His birthday is in two weeks... We have three dogs. (please, just shoot me now before I think about this anymore)

We had five once when Bo was still alive. I wasn't sure how to place one of Maggie's puppies. He wasn't looking like a working dog like his litter mates but if I put him in a family placement where he might not get enough exercise he'd be a brat. We kept him until he was five months old before placing him on a farm in MA. Four isn't all that much of a stretch except I said I'd never do it again.

Cute pup Molly.
I am glad we're in a small rental home and have to pay a deposit for each pet, or I'd have a housefull.
As soon as we can I will have another dog.
