Sometimes operating this tractor is kind of like driving a bumper car, or something, it is hard to describe.

Sometimes when I let off the gas, it stops instantly, right there, so hard that it wobbles. If my foot is on the gas the wobbling is enough to be giving it gas once again. [So obviously I am learning to fully remove my foot].

Other times, like when I am turning, if I stop giving gas, it will continue to slide yawing or spinning for a bit, before it comes to rest. [those spins can really throw the back end around a lot, and with a backhoe hangout out there, ick].

The joystick for the front loader is not entirely intuitive either. But I am getting there. Trying to set the loader bucket just exactly right [too high and I am not picking up snow, too low and I dig down into the gravel] is taking some practice.

As a wee lad I learned to drive on a tractor that had turning brakes. I really do like turning brakes, but this model tractor does not have turning brakes. But even so with the backhoe sticking out behind me, when I do turn, I have to be careful, as the backhoe swings around and hits things.

I kind of wish this thing had mirrors.

I went to a neighbor's place today and I did their driveway. Normally it is a 'U', but their snowblower died, so this winter they have only cleared one track going in. They are not doing so good: out of work, 2 cars are broke sealed in ice, medical problems too, and they have family moved in with them, lots of mouths to feed, in a tiny house, and more family coming soon.

Anyway I was thinking about just plowing hard straight into loose powder and seeing how far I could push it. I had fluffy powder up over the front bucket, up over the top of the tractor's hood, cascading to either side, but looking back it did not really make any path that a car could follow, so it was a waste. Fun! but in vain. I cleaned up their entire 'U' driveway. They are on a slight curve in the road, I hate to see anyone backing out into that road. Now they can drive through their 'U' and not have to back out into oncoming traffic.

It was fun.

This little tractor seems to be nearly un-stoppable.

I have an 18 year old grapefruit plant that I grew from seed. Last month there was so much bad going on in my life, that apparently died from neglect. The leaves fell off and the stems seemed totally dry. I had planned to throw it out while still hoping it might survive. While I procrastinated my DH, the usual depressed cynic, suggested to keep watering it until Easter, facetiously suggesting a miracle will happen.
Well, it just started sprouting leaf buds within the last two days. Omen?
