wind development issues back in the news:
Wind farm foes allege unfair tactics
Their complaint claims regulators and backers had improper contacts.
By JOHN RICHARDSON Staff Writer Maine Today
September 18, 2007
Opponents of a proposed wind farm near Sugarloaf Mountain are calling on at least one member of the state's Land Use Regulation Commission to step down from discussions of the project because of what they say is a paper trail revealing bias and improper behind-the-scenes lobbying in favor of the plan.

The wind farm(Searsburg) near Rt 9 between Bratt amd Wilmington has been there at least 10 years so I don't think they are very new.
The same company UPC is trying to build a wind farm on a ridge in Sutton/Shefield, in the NEK in Vt. Very controversial as well with some very ironic twists and turns in that saga.

If you are interested in UPC's TRUE corporate tactics, look up Cohocton, NY and see what ugly truths have played out in the last year or two. UPC is currently constructing without permits, or PILOT agreements - they also at the last second hired ALL outside workers, pulling their lies of promise to locals for work. At the last second, literally they closed the door. Just the latest of a long long string of lies.
At the moment, UPC is the most underhanded and dishonest out of all of them. They are caught with their pants down on this one, Cohocton has a strong and dedicated group fighting them and watching their every move. To anyone that has UPC salivating at the town's door, please please please do research, start with Cohocton.
Enjoy this gorgeous fall weekend all!

"Their complaint claims regulators and backers had improper contacts."
What a joke! Regulators and opponents of normal land use have had improper contacts since 1973 at least. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! Now one regulator has received information in favor of a project and the no growth gang is pitching a purple fit.

Gawd, the hypocrisy is incredible.

Big money as it is put , Buys Access , Influences Powerful people. We all know this and we all know what a Mess it's made in Washington DC and state goverment as well.
Greed has no soul , no conscience , no morals it values only itself. Fallow the money as they say. We all know how some corporations are selling out America and pocketing the leftovers. And our children get Toxic toys in the bargain!
A new guilded age is apon us...We the People of the United States of America need to Fight back. It starts by getting a G.R.I.P....get rid of incumbant polititions.
BTW China knows how to practice captialism AND put their jack boots down on the Civil Libertys of The People at the Same Time! And it looks like United States Goverment is learning it's tricks. After all , China knows how to do it

It's a beautiful clear fall morning with foliage at its peak in Mars Hill. Wind is calm and the temp is 38 degrees, not quite a frost this morning. There is no noise this Sunday morning. Not even the Harley Davidsons are out at sunrise. We were going to go boating and photograph some of the islands in their fall colors, but we may rethink that plan. Here's today's forecast:
"Today
Sunny. Highs in the mid 50s. Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph."
Sometimes the wind blows and sometimes it's calm as it is at the moment. When the evening wind dies down in the valley and it's still blowing up higher you can hear the blades whoosh as they make the last bit of electricity before the wind dies up there too. It's better than listening to the saw mill whine two miles away or the compressor at the potato factory. You see, it's important to understand the motivations of those who oppose business in rural Maine. Their short term goal is to deny us the opportunity to make a living. Their long term goal is rural cleansing.

Well said..vote out incumbents..hmm couldn't agree more. I actually had the pleasure of attending a function to hear a presidential hopeful speak. He was the only one in a VERY long time that gavce me some hope for our fair country.
