No power here. I'll make this quick. The train from Portland to Boston stopped due to downed trees. They can't go back to Portland because trees came down behind them. Nothing is moving. The state plow went by and sanded. He had three nurses who had to go to work in the 5 cars behind him.
Hot wood stove, hot coffee and a toasted raisin bagel here in the frozen north.
"Power? We don' need no steenkin power."

I have power here in Belfast but it's a miracle! There's 3 trees down covering my driveway. I'll have to chop those down to get out. The power lines are covered in ice and hanging low. I was glad to see the rain start up and bring on the melting.

It was wild here on the Cape for a few hours this morning. I was stunned to get up and see I still had electricity. The wind was insane. I didn't lose any trees, but when it's dark, it sure is scary to hear wind like that. Sounded much like the hurricanes I went through in south Fl in 05. The storm did toss my wooden patio furniture. When daylight did come, I watched the trees snapping back and forth and was waiting for some to go down, but luckily none have.
Hold on Maine because this is coming your way. It was 62 when I got up though!!! ALL rain... I don't know how warm it will be for you on the coast up there by the time this travels up there... but I can tell you, it's traveling at 60+ mph, so it won't take long before it's there in Belfast and the outer areas of down east.

Strange the forecast says it's going to clear up today.
Morning rain, becoming breezy this afternoon with a rain or snow shower in spots

Pump your zip code into weather.com and use their interactive map... you can see the storm, where it's at and where it's likely to go. It's blowing pretty strongly towards the northeast, so maybe it will be too far out to see to affect you. It might hit Nova Scotia head on instead. (At least the band that whacked us a good one).

I put in my zip code and it says it's going to clear up by 12pm today then be cloudy the rest of the day. You must be right..it must be headed out to sea.

I should have set the Honda 2000i generator on the porch last night. I went out to the garage and on the way back my feet went out from under me. I sure didn't want to sit down so I set the generator down and put both hands on the ground. Never fell all the way. However, the generator took off across the heavy crust and was picking up speed. It finally hit a bump, went through the crust and tipped over. A You-tube worthy event, but alas nobody was there for the moment.
I got the generator to the porch and pulled the starter cord. It had never failed to start on either the first or second pull. I probably flooded it. Pulling the starter with the choke off didn't get it so I took off the cover, the air cleaner cover, foam filters and finally got to the carb intake. It's a very small engine so I gave it a very small toot of starting ether. It spit on the second pull and started on the third pull. I figure that Honda has put a safety device in the system to shut down if the generator tips over.
Life is good.

I am glad you were able to break your fall and didn't break YOU!... I can just see the generator skating away! LOL
I haven't been out yet down here, but it seems crusty and the dog came in WET rather than snowy or covered in sleet, like last night. I feel rather like Noah and the dove when I send her out in the pre-dawn darkness...
Glad I only have a 3 mi commute today, though if it is not TOO bad, I am going to go a few more miles down Union to hit the PO in Levant and mail the first lot of greeting cards, so I can get postage for the over seas ones, which WILL be late.
