I'd rather have 9 months of winter than 10 months of summer!! I think 10* MUST feel much more tolerable than 100*. Surely!! They don't let me run nekkid enough around here to battle this heat.

LOL You won't have to worry about that. The nine months must have been a joke. You can run nekkid comfortably (unless Forest is out there ) most of the year when you get here, you'll just have to run faster to stay warmer some months.

Not quite, but there will be a few days when 20˚F will feel tropical.

What is caribou like for vacationers. It is a nice place to visit in Sept?
How are the roads for traveling from Bango to Caribou.
Are there ample gas stations, restauants and hotels.
Would anyone advise the trip?
We want to go up the coast of Maine to the border of Canada.
Any in put would be appreciated.

Honestly there isn't a whole lot up there, but it is a nice place to visit any time of year IMHO. Sept is probably one of the best months to go there. Black Flies are gone, and other bugs are on the wane. Cool evenings and warm days that time of year.

Interstate for 115 miles of the 170 mile trip and very well maintained usually. The rest of the way is decent roads, not glass smooth, but not like driving a bombed out route like it was 10 or 15 years ago before they fixed it.

Plenty. Unless your vehicle has a 10 gallon tank and only gets 3 MPG you will be fine. You will not find any 5 star places to eat, but you will find plenty of very good family owned places and the typical fast food crap. In Caribou itself I like Russels Motel, they are old and not too modern, but super nice people and cleaner than the rather dumpy Caribou Convention Center rooms. There are a couple of other places as well that are fine.

Sure why not. It isn't like you are visiting a place out of a Stephan King book, or some desolate outpost of humanity surrounded by man-eating wilderness.

Thanks for your input Bydand.........I especially liked that one line about visiting a place out of Stephan King novel. LOL!!
Thats a good one. Truth be known.....It's close to what I was thinking, sorry to say.
I looked the map and there didn't seem to be many roads up that way?
So it is not desolate with man eating wilderness? LOL
I have never seen a moose or a caribou and I just thought there would be plenty of them up there.
