Default Lodging in Bar Harbor

We've decided to spend a night in Bar Harbor when we visit in Feb. Is anyone familiar with The Quimby House Inn and The Aurora Inn? Just curious to hear if anyone had good/ bad experiences at either place, or if anyone can recommend a different place to stay (that's actually open for business in Feb...). Thanks!

Just a shot here but there's a place called The Colony in Hulls Cove about a mile before the entrance to the park. Colony Home Page DW and i stay there all the time. Last time we were seranaded by bagpipes outside our cabin. Cabin #3 is supposed to be haunted. Not sure if they are open now. Call and see. Nice old 60s style place but clean. Good Scottish folk last time I knew. Away from the hub-bub.

The Quimby House has nice large rooms and baths and really good winter rates. I have no experience with Aurora Inn, but it's a little further away from the downtown area.

Geddy's is a bar/restaurant that is open year round on Main St for someplace close to eat. Can't miss it, it'll be the one with the moose lit up in white lights on top of the building and the 2 red lobster claws lit up in red lights on the front of the restaurant.

Default Whatever is open in February

Atlantic Oaks

Try Atlantic Oaks right near the College of the Atlantic. Good off season rates, great sunrise views.

Lot of places are closed off season but this place was open in April.

Second Geddys for good food. Jordan House is probably closed, located within the Park, worth the trip.

A few years ago I stayed at the Bar Harbor Manor for 3 nights and would probably stay there again. Unless I suddenly became rich, then I'd try the Bar Harbor Inn and Spa. Very clean rooms, at least at that time, and close to downtown too. Not cheap but not too outrageous all things considered. I'm not sure they're open year-round, though. I am assuming that you looked into the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce's website? There is a huge list of accommodations with brief descriptions and links as well as location and distance from downtown.

I don't know how to answer the comments on rep points except this way. Yes, that's what they told us and DW says she saw it on some show on TLC or Discovery. We haven't stayed in it...YET. I don't go in for everything people but you never can tell. Gotta keep an open mind.

Sorry, RTB...that was me asking if you've stayed in the cottage that is supposedly haunted...I was just teasing ya, but when you do, please keep us posted as to your perceptions. And I love an open mind, you know.
