Eastport Street Views on Google Maps
I don't know if this is news to everyone or not, but Google Maps now has street views of Eastport available on the internet. Just type in an address, and choose street view and there you are. I just took a virtual walk from my home to downtown Eastport. You need to use the zip after ME. The address are off by as much as plus or minus 10, but close. Photo quality is quite good. The photos appear to be about a year old.

cool - I just took a walk up Boynton St - it does seem to be from October, 2007 at least from my neighbors scarcrow by his porch.

WOW! That's awesome! I do think that the pics were taken about a year or more ago, it seems the work on the foundation of my grandparents old house was finished, there is a backhoe parked next to the house so I would guess fall of 2007. I took this pic in mid sept. 2007.

I love streetview.
The Maine portion must have recently become available. I don't think it was there about a month ago. I noticed it last weekend and so I took a "drive" along the coast from Camden to Rockland. No streetview avilable for Vinalhaven yet

Woohoo! I looked before and didn't see it, either. That portion of the map wasn't working. I'm going to check that out!!

I just took a walk all over town, and it's 100% complete as far as I can tell. It doesn't have side streets once you get off Moose Island, but the street view is good all the way to Perry. I tried a Calais address, and didn't get the street view. It's just like walking the streets. I tried my address here in Florida, and there was my pickup, parked in the driveway. The photo was also about a year old.
Enjoy Eastport one and all!

If you enter my current address, it brings up a picture of the front of our house within the last year, judging by the green van we had then. Cool!

It seemed to take forever to do that foundation work. Longer than the usual concrete company anyway.

I think the technology is cool--and I work in the software industry--but it's also a bit big brotherish too. I'm hoping some places, like our Maine islands, don't get street view.
