Katy went for the first time this weekend, so did her little brother. Jacob went with his friend and his Dad and they got 8 total. Jake loved it, liked snowmobiling better, but really had a good time! Katy got nothing--and was not pleasant as Jake bragged about his fish. She didn't hesitate though to brag about being pulled around in a sled behind the ATV though...
they'll never outgrow that will they??

Sounds like they both had a great time! Mine never outgrew it. Instead one of them became obsessed with it! Seriously obsessed. As in 12-step rehab, ice fishing withdrawals at time of ice out.
So did Jake bring home his catch for you to cook?

lol... he didn't! He told Dillon's Dad.... "well, why don't you keep them? you might get hungry later?" lol... in other words, "I just wanna catch 'em!" He gives his fish away from the breakwater in Eastport too... he caught a small shark off the boat this summer though.... he did want to bring *that* home, but his father said "your mother will kill me!" . So, he did learn something in the 12 years of marriage!

That was an excellent line he used! Too funny, kids with great sense of humors are a joy to be with! Nice job on the shark too! 12 years.... ya eventually it all kicks in.
Drew only keeps Trout and Salmon, everything else is a catch and release. He learned how to clean them when he was very young and how to cook them not long after. His dad did ME that favor.

Never used the spud gun on the ice....but what a great idea! We had a bad experience using one last yr on the island. We were shooting it from the deck at BIL down on the shore. BIL was ducking behind a big rock and stood up to look up at the wrong time. Took a spud directly to the forehead. It set him back a little, but another beer brought him back to life.
The things we do for entertainment.

That hilarious! Sounds like you have more fun than the guys doing the ice fishing.
