In the 5 years I have been in S. California my blood has thinned and I have gotten rid of all my NH winter wardrobe. I will literally have to replace everything. I was told there is a really good thrift store in Freeport, not the LLBean discount store but a real Thrift Store. That sounds like a "must go there" type of place. But as a XX Large sized guy, they may not have what I need. I have been looking (and ordering a little from the mail order catalogue) just to make my Maine dreams tangible, while I sit on the "lanai" and wait for the house to sell.

Why are you digging up these old, dead threads?

I wondered who pulled it out of the attic when I saw it! I remember doing the same thing countless times when I was a fledgling on the board!

And, just let me say it was COLD in March!! The mornings were in the teens and the afternoons barely made it to 45, and we were SOOO unprepared with our clothing choices. We definitely looked like tourists freezing our whatses off in cotton sweaters and thin, suede boots!

LOL, OK, just curious. Whe you are looking at the thread page, the column just to the right of the thread name gives the date of the last post.

I have found, out here in AZ, that wonderful high quality cold weather gear is available for a song at Goodwill and Savers. So many people "moved here from there" that they immediately donate their outer gear upon arrival. You can find L.L.Bean and Eddie Bauer warm coats for a song Also warm wool muffs, mitts and scarves and gloves are a dime a dozen! Save yourself some $$$ and buy thrift and consignment- still cheaper than L.L. Bean outlet!

Don't wait too long to get warm clothing. By mid winter the stores will have spring clothes out.
