Yarmouth/Falmouth Schools - Drugs/Gangs
Anyone have any input regarding the extent of drug/gang infiltration problems in Yarmouth/Falmouth schools and if so, is one town worse than the other? I have been under the impression that these problems were not of much significance in these communities, but I came upon a post that claims that because of the "affluence" in these towns, there is more problem with drugs. I also noticed a bit of some "gang-looking" graffiti near the Yarmouth High School campus the other day. Any input is much appreciated.

I'm certainly not aware of this type of behavior in either of these towns. I have friends with teenagers in both of these schools. I read the local papers every day and speak regularly with good friends that work in law enforcement in the area. In my opinion, either of these towns would be perfectly safe.
Best of luck to you.

I live in the area and know kids & parents from both towns. he idea of gang infiltration into either would be minimal if not non-existant.
Drugs would be a more of a problem, of the two towns, moreso in Falmouth. But I just don't think it is all that much more of a problem than it is anywhere. Probably less than many places.

Thanks for the response. That was what I thought but its always good to hear from someone who has personal knowledge! Do you happen to have any opinion of Falmouth vs. Yarmouth? Is one, say more intellectual than the other; one friendlier than the other? One more open to newcomers than the other? One more "yuppiesh" than the other, etc. I know these are stereotypes and not all inclusive; but some places do tend to exude more of one than the other...Thanks Mermaid!

Good to get this confirmation from someone who lives in the area. Do you have an opinion you would care to share regarding the general feel/ambiance of each of these towns? Would one be more favorable for new comers? Thanks again.

You're quite welcome. In my opinion both of these towns are very reputable regarding the overall aesthetics of each town, one being a little smaller than the other. They're both very well known for being very family oriented, there are many youth leagues within each town if you have children into sports. Each town has a really nice unique feel to it. I'm might be a little more partial to Yarmouth, but for no particular reason. Falmouth is also a nice cozy town. Both towns are equally friendly. In my opinion, Yarmouth's downtown has more of a small town feel to it.
I can't decipher an intellectual difference, I'm sorry that isn't a term I'm familiar with. I'm sure you and your family would fit well into either town. You'll surely be able to find anything you are looking for regarding any social and cultural aspects in either of these towns. I'd be reluctant to say if one was more friendly or yuppified than the other. To me, their both very similar, friendly and welcoming.
Best of luck on your search.
