For those interested in GREAT socks......... Dahlgren Alpaca Backpacker Socks - Alpaca Direct These are warm & not scratchy even wet. I am too "frugal" (cheap) to buy them for myself.....but they were a most appreciated gift!

I check the Weather Channel regularly through Dish and have saved Sacramento, CA. as one of my favorites. Don't even ask me what their days highs are. Now that I've been in Dover for over 2 months now, I keep saying that I have seen it all. And then I wake up a couple mornings ago and check the temperature outside. MINUS THIRTY TWO. Is this right? Are you kidding me? Now, I think that the twenties during the day and low single digits at night would be perfect winter weather.
I decided to stay in Maine through the winter now and bought a snowmobile in Newport last Thursday. I don't know why I had to pick that particlar day but I did. The deal was done at 4pm and they showed me how to get to the ITS trail behind their dealership so I could ride my new sled home to Dover. It's 24 miles to my door. By the time I got their about an hour and a half later, the outside temp. was at -8 degrees. The only body parts on me that were NOT cold were my toes and ears. I had to keep the speed down under thirty for most of the trip as the wind chill was directing my thumb. Still, it was fun and I'd do it again. I am looking forward to some normal cold though and really don't want to hear the words tundra, frigid or arctic any more.
What's ironic about this deadly cold is that not more than five months ago, I was in Sacramento and the high one day there was around 112. That's a 144 degree spread. At least it was a dry spread.
