Hmm... depends on the winnings (after tax) I guess. If it were less than 1,000,000 I'd pay off school and maybe sell my car and buy a nice condo in Boston.
Now if it were more than 1,000,000 I'd buy a Boston town house (Back Bay or Beacon Hill if it was WAY over $1 Mil.... North End or South End, possibly Fenway if were a LITTLE over $1Mil) with a modest vacation spot along Thames St. in Newport, RI (I couldn't maintain one of the Mansions along Ocean Drive or Belleview Ave nor would I want to if I could).

DH and I love to talk about this. Whenever one of us thinks to buy a ticket, which is very hit or miss, we love to dream. We always agree that we'd set aside a percentage of it to create a trust fund for animal shelters in the Northeast in areas where they most need the help. We are suckers for the little furry ones. Then, we'd give an equal amount to each sibling on both sides of the family to help them all out, as everyone is facing some troubles with this recession, not due to any fault of theirs, but layoffs and the like. Then, we'd like to buy maybe 50 acres or so of some nice land in Northern Maine and build a modest-sized house, complete with root cellar, good well and septic - my big 3 "must-haves". Maybe a guest house or two so family and friends could visit - nothing big, just small and efficient. Finally, I'd like to make sure DH didn't ever have to work at another crappy job if he didn't want to by investing the rest in something relatively safe. We like our cars, we don't need new stuff, so that would do it. Oh yeah, I'd build my outdoor pizza oven there, too. (But I plan on doing that anyway if we aren't in a town situation). It is so fun to think of it, because we refine it and get more realistic each time we do.

I have just been informed that if we won the M/B we would be getting a fully restored
1968 Hemi Charger (and a new roof). What a gearhead he is.

There ya go! Dream a little!
I was 10 when my Dad bought his 68 Charger, although I doubt it had a hemi in it unless that was stock at that time. We lived in Woolwich at the time and one of our friends and neighbors was a state trooper at the time. I just now rememberd one time when my dad wanted to see how fast the Charger would go. We had met up with Judd (the trooper) somewhere on Rt 1 in Woolwich. Judd put us kids in his cruiser and strapped us in and he and Dad let her rip right up Rt 1. Judd had his radar on the Charger. I have no idea what the outcome was, but I do know as sure as I'm sitting here, we didn't crash!
Okay, so this was 40 years ago. Can you imagine someone doing this today, putting your kids in another car and racing? Probably not!

Local speculation has it narrowed down to three families and those families are not talking. They are enjoying the speculation. My guess is that townspeople have not guessed correctly and the winner is still a mystery.

They had seatbelts back then?? Yep, I remember more than once my dad in his 57 Chev with an Old Town cruiser on his tail would come flying into our driveway. They were playing a game I recall, something about being the first to cross the town line into Milford.
Oh, and that was way before you could dream a little about winning the Tri State megabucks

It's so fun to speculate! I can't wait to hear, not specifically who but that persons situation. It makes me so happy to hear it's someone that least expected it but needed it the most. Keep us informed.

If I won the big one I'd buy a large tract of land away from the coast so Hubby, the pooch, and I can retire safely without worrying about the Armageddon tsunami.
