Good advice! Better to pay to fix your vehicle than pay for someone else's hospital bills.

You just don't want to be the first one down a road! Follow the tracks from the other cars. Usually there are high enough snow banks so going off the road is not a problem We had little snow before this last big storm so there were no banks established and people had no idea where the road was. If you're going slow enough driving off the road is usually not a big deal. You'll have to most likely be pulled back on the road but you and your car should remain unhurt. Going slow is the key. I think it's safe to say that everyone in Maine has been stuck or slid off the road at least once in their driving careers!

ohh ya i have been off the road a fuew times.once or twice with the kenworth.thats not like a car or a pickup.your not just going to hook on and pull it out.i remember the first time i put it off the road.i was on rt#2 in farmington headed for the mill in jay.i come around a corner and a plow truck had hit a van.no lights on becouse when he hit the van it shorted the battery out.snowing like you wouldnt beleave so i ditched it.could have been worse.

I just felt that I should add that I was driving around Portland about 20 minutes ago and they have taken WAYYY better care of the roads today than they did during the last storm (you may remember me b*tching about that?). They are sanded and there are plows EVERYWHERE. I'm hoping they can keep it up throughout the day and the rest of the evening. I am impressed though so far. Parking ban starts at 6pm tonight and goes to 6am.... 4 extra hours to clear roads. I think it'll be better than last time.
