I would have come even without the lure of coffee and donuts(though that doesn't hurt). I solemnly swear that once I arrive in Eastport, I will be very civically(is this a word?) involved!

here's a real question ... on another thread "Upcoming trip- specific questions ", the person asks if the road is clear from Lubec to W. Quoddy ... looking at maps (Google), there's water in way; how can you drive from Lubec to Quoddy without driving on 189 to 1 to 190? Is there a bridge somewhere I can't see?

Nope - if you want to go from Lubec to Eastport and you don't plan to go by boat - then you have to go 189 to 1 to 190.
